QSL.net & QTH.net Announcement

December 31, 2008

Dear fellow hams,

After 13 years of providing hams with no cost web space, e-mail forwarding and mailing list services through QSL.net and QTH.net, I have decided to retire. All QSL.net and QTH.net servers and Internet connections at my home QTH are being turned down.

Scott KA9FOX has graciously decided to pick up where I left off, and he is in the process of migrating all services to new hardware. See below for an update on the status of the migration.

I want to thank all of you for all of your support over the years, and I hope that you will support Scott as he takes over the reigns.

See you on the air!

Server Migration Update from Scott KA9FOX <ka9fox@qsl.net>

Last Update: Jan 6, 2009 20:00z

Thank you for your patience as this transition is made. All qsl.net/qth.net services are being moved onto brand new hardware in a well-connected data center in the central US. This web page will be updated so you can stay informed of the progress.

If you would like to make a contribution to support my efforts to keep QSL.net / QTH.net on the web, see the Donation Page.

SERVICESERVERSTATUS
Web Siteswww.qsl.net
(ftp.qsl.net)
User web site data has been migrated from the old server to the new server and all sites should be up. However, we have reports of some of the data being out of date and are looking into that right now. Access to update your site via FTP is not yet ready. Stay tuned and thanks for your continued patience.
Mailing Listsmailman.qth.netTook old server down Jan 5 around 05:30z, migrated data, and brought up new server around 08:15z. Let me know if you are seeing any problems.
E-mail Forwardingmail.qsl.netSuccessfully converted to new mail forwarding server on Jan 2 around 07:45z. AOL seems to be blocking mail from us at the moment. We have put in a ticket with AOL (which also controls netscape, wmconnect and compuserve mail) and will keep you up to date. Update as of Jan 6 18:00z -- AOL has denied our request for unblock. If I were an AOL user, I would suggest getting an e-mail account from gmail.com or yahoo. AOL does not care that legitimate mail is being denied and is not willing to work with us.
DX Info/Log Searchdx.qsl.netSuccessfully converted to the new server on Jan 4 around 21:00z. No downtime occurred. Let me or N6RT know if you see any problems.
